Algernon Cyrus Dixon papers, 1906-1962.

Collection consists of correspondence received and sent. It is organized into four groups: 1. Board of Regents, University of Oregon. This group includes correspondence with university officials such as presidents Prince Lucien Campbell and Arnold Bennett Hall, and with other board members, notably Mrs. George T. Gerlinger. There is also correspondence with Joseph N. Teal and H. Phimister Proctor. There is a major series of letters regarding the location and construction of the University of Oregon Medical School. 2. Home Loan Bank Board. In 1932 Dixon was a candidate for appointment to the board. The correspondence contains letters of support and request for advice from persons dealing with the board. 3. Ochoco Timber Co. This includes correspondence with the company president, Robert A. Booth, concerning negotiations between the company and the National Forest Reservation Commission over timber holdings consolidation. 4. Booth-Kelly Lumber Co. Miscellaneous reports, financial records, and minor correspondence for the period 1920-1958.

Algernon Cyrus Dixon was born in Illinois. He attended Oregon State Normal School in Monmouth from 1892-1893. In 1900 he was foreman for Booth-Kelly Lumber Co., Springfield, Oregon and became mill superintendent, sales manager, general manager, and vice-president of the company.
